As Safeguarding Adults Week begins, we are recognising the 900 colleagues who have demonstrated their commitment to safeguarding, by taking part in our interactive safeguarding training.

Developed by colleagues within Thirteen, the safeguarding training was created to support team members in identifying and recording safeguarding concerns when working with vulnerable customers.

Colleagues visited an empty property where safeguarding scenarios had been created.

Colleagues were tasked with working together to identify the signs of abuse in the scenarios and to consider the actions they would take to reduce the risks posed. They also received information about the signs of abuse, with resources from the Teeswide Safeguarding Adults Board, to further develop their understanding.

John Rafferty, safeguarding & inclusion business partner said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to all those involved in bringing this training together and to the 900 colleagues who engaged with the training. It was great to see colleagues from across the business working collaboratively. We are grateful to the Teeswide Safeguarding Adults Board for their support and resources too.

“This kind of training is so important, no matter our role, we all have our part to play in safeguarding our customers.

“The aim of National Safeguarding Adults Week is to highlight safeguarding key issues, start conversations and raise awareness of safeguarding best practice. By delivering this training we’ve made sure our colleagues have the knowledge and skills needed to support our most vulnerable customers.”
