Each volunteer was invited to the special event, held at Northshore, to celebrate their contribution towards achieving the Investors in Volunteers award.

This prestigious award recognises Thirteen’s excellence in recruiting, training and supporting volunteers.

Thirteen was assessed against a range of best practice standards and proved to excel in all aspects of working with its volunteers.

Ian Wardle, chief executive at thirteen, said: "We are really proud to have achieved this quality standard in recognition of our commitment to our volunteers.

"It shows that volunteering is embedded at the very heart of Thirteen and recognises that our volunteers have a fantastic opportunity to grow.

"All our volunteers show such enthusiasm and commitment, and as an organisation, we benefit hugely from the new perspective, skills, experience and knowledge they bring.”

Volunteering for Thirteen gives people the chance to learn new skills, share their ideas and provide much-needed support which can help to improve their employability.

There is a range of voluntary roles at Thirteen including volunteer befrienders, counsellors, health champions and peer mentors.
