Garden project underway with Middlesbrough charity to bring communities together [Archived]

A project to help bring communities together and improve the environment is underway in Middlesbrough.

Frade Garden Project

12 Dec 2022

The partnership has seen Thirteen’s community resilience team and estate services working together with Frade’s Men’s Shed volunteers to develop a new community garden space behind the charity’s Marton Road furniture store.

The team worked tirelessly to clear the land with the volunteers, who dedicate their valued time to the furniture restoration and upcycling workshop.

Community development coordinator Jayne Dale said: “The rewilding project is set to become a tranquil garden space.

“We’re excited to see the garden evolve into a space where people can meet, have some quiet time to reflect and learn. There are plans to develop training opportunities to learn horticultural skills and the benefits of growing your own produce.

“It’s fantastic to be working in partnership with the charity to develop another fundamental project which will help improve community wellbeing, skills and training in the local area.”
