Thirteen pledges its support for National Social Housing Safety and Compliance Week
Thirteen has pledged its support to the first annual National Social Housing Safety and Compliance Week.
21 Jun 2021
The campaign which runs from 21 until 25 June led by the Association of Safety and Compliance Professionals (ASCP), in association with CORGI, aims to shine a light on safety and compliance and create a safer future for social housing.
At Thirteen, we have pledged our ongoing commitment to building safety and we’re continuing to make further investment in our homes.
Thirteen’s Executive Director of Assets Paul Jenkins said: “We are proud to be supporting this campaign. “Keeping customers safe in their homes is a priority. That’s why our compliance team is continuing to educate and inform customers about a range of safety checks, why they have to be carried out and what customers can do to work with us to keep themselves and their families safe in their home.
“In response to the Hackitt Report and subsequent recommendations, we planned our customer engagement, tailoring what messages we will deliver and how we will do this for customers, who live in a range of homes, including high-rise and sheltered accommodation.
“Last week, our Building Safety team held a week long event in partnership with housing services, involved customers and partner organisations, to visit a number of locations to speak to customers and provide advice and guidance on home safety. We’ll continue to listen to our involved customers to discover effective ways to engage with our customers about home safety and what matters to them.
“We’ve also introduced a new, streamlined system to improve the way our compliance data is reported. This ensures visibility and accountability across the organisation by reporting real-time updates on the core areas of compliance, which are a legal requirement, including gas and electrical safety checks, fire risk assessments, asbestos and lift and water management.
“We have always taken building safety seriously, and we’ll continue to provide a customer focussed and flexible approach to our appointment service to ensure we can gain access to carry out compliance appointments for the safety of our customers.”
