From improving energy efficiency in customers' homes to supporting colleague wellbeing and measuring and reporting on carbon emissions, the report highlights Thirteen's social and environmental progress and how the organisation plans to build on this in future.

Heather Ashton, executive director of business change and improvement at Thirteen, said:

"Having published our first Environmental, Social and Governance report last year, this year's report focuses on demonstrating our performance and progress. As an organisation, we are committed to delivering change in these key areas and being transparent about the steps we take to achieve our goals.

"As a social housing provider with more than 72,000 customers, we know that housing is about so much more than bricks and mortar, but our broader social purpose often isn't well understood.

"We are extremely invested in the communities and the places we work and have a long-term interest in seeing them thrive and prosper. Much of what we do aligns with ESG values, and these are helping us measure, demonstrate and communicate our purpose and impact to the wider world.

"By adopting a sector-wide reporting standard that takes in the social, economic and environmental issues that matter most, we are beginning to  evidence the impact of Thirteen's efforts and our sector as a whole."

Thirteen's ESG report summarises the organisation's activities and achievements in 2022-23, showcasing its impact across 12 key indicators, as set out in the Sustainability Reporting Standard for Social Housing.

The Sustainability Reporting Standard for Social Housing is a voluntary framework for housing providers to report on their ESG performance in a transparent, consistent and comparable way. Thirteen is an early adopter of the standard and one of the first housing providers to publish its ESG report.
