Starts at Home Day was launched in 2015 by the National Housing Federation to celebrate supported housing and the vital difference it makes to thousands of people on a daily basis.

This annual event was created with one important aim – to ensure that people who need extra support will always have a safe home that meets their needs.

The experience of supporting people through the pandemic has shown the value of Care and Support services and the difference that having a safe and secure place to live can make to people’s lives.

At Thirteen, we own and manage a number of extra care, sheltered and supported housing schemes across Teesside, the North East and Yorkshire. They all offer specialist support to help older and more vulnerable people to live independently and stay safe.

Starts at Home Day is important to us because we understand the life changing impact that our care and support services have on the customers we help, and we want to recognise the contribution that our supported housing frontline heroes have made to the lives of people living in our schemes during the pandemic.

If you or someone you know is interested in sheltered or extra care accommodation, Thirteen manage a number of schemes across the North East, each offering specialist support to help older, disabled or vulnerable people to live independently for longer.
