The Beechfield Court and Beresford Close schemes are based on Beresford Close in the Thorntree area of Middlesbrough.

They offer extra care housing for people aged 55+ who may be frail or who need an increased level of care and support. Residents are free to live life as you wish in a safe environment and with a range of care and support services available if you need them.

Beechfield Court extra care offers:

  • 65 one and two-bedroom flats
  • kitchen and living room combined
  • wet room with walk-in shower 
  • bistro
  • scooter room
  • lifts
  • laundry room
  • communal lounges
  • hair salon 
  • housing team available Monday to Friday during office hours, with carers on-site 24/7

Beresford Close extra care bungalows offer:

  • adaptations including sink-risers and automatic doors.

People need to be eligible to live in extra care housing, which includes a referral from a social worker. The level of support you receive will depend on a social work assessment and your needs.

Pennyman House

Pennyman House is based on the outskirts of Middlesbrough town centre overlooking the market place on James Street.

It offers extra care housing for people aged 55+ who may be frail or who need an increased level of care and support. Residents are free to live life as you wish in a safe environment and with a range of care and support services available if you need them. Pennyman House offers:

  • 42 one and two-bedroom apartments with wet rooms for rent
  • a supportive community
  • lift
  • hairdressers
  • on-site restaurant with organised themed lunches
  • staff available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • part-time caretaker and a cleaner who look after the communal areas of the building.
  • pull chords in all properties.

Pennyman House has a real community spirit with a range of scheme activities. Customers get together with staff for some great events, including coffee mornings, bingo, dominoes and quizzes. Customers have also enjoyed outings to Redcar Races, Beamish and have arranged a murder mystery night and panto on-site.

People need to be eligible to live in extra care housing, which includes a referral from a social worker. The level of support you receive will depend on a social work assessment and your needs.

Glastonbury House

Galstonbury House is situated off Ormesby Road in Middlesbrough and offers sheltered accommodation to people aged 55+ who want a home of their own and support facilities if and when you need them.

Glastonbury House features:

  • 30 one-bedroom flats and 61 two-bedroom flats
  • walk-in shower in every home – other adaptations can be installed if possible
  • two lifts
  • launderette with two washers and three dryers
  • pull cords to use in emergencies or if you need any assistance
  • scheme co-ordinator on duty during weekdays
  • communal lounge that most resident use for our activities such as dinner, bingo, breakfasts parties
  • hairdresser who calls every week
  • monitored car park
  • communal garden for all residents to use and if you like to plant flowers or veg.

There is a scheme co-ordinator on the scheme to help you with any problems or issues you may have. When not on duty, calls go to our out-of-hours service.

Glastonbury House is close to local shops and there is a bus service nearby for easy access to Middlesbrough town centre. The Neptune Centre and two parks are within walking distance of the scheme, with a club and supermarkets nearby.

There is a communal charge included with the rent.
