If your current home no longer meets your needs, we’re here to help. Whether you need an adaptation or support with moving, we’ll work with you to find the right solution.
We consider all requests for reasonable adjustments in line with the Equality and Diversity Act.
Who does what?
Your Local Authority is responsible for carrying out adaptations, but the process may vary depending on the agreement in place between Thirteen and your council.
Your Housing Services Coordinator or Living Well Co-ordinator is your first point of contact – they’ll guide you through what’s available and what to do next.
Minor adaptations
These are small changes that can make a big difference, such as:
- grab rails
- lever taps
- rails on front doors
Major adaptations
These involve more significant work, like:
- installing ramps
- widening doorways
- fitting a level access shower
An occupational therapist and technical officer will assess your needs and recommend suitable options.
Rehousing support
If your home can’t be adapted to meet your long-term needs, moving may be the best option. You could be re-housed as a medical priority or be eligible for other priority housing based on your situation.
We’ll help you to understand how to apply for rehousing through your own Local Authority’s Lettings Platform or apply through Thirteen’s Lettings Platform, MyThirteen.
We’ll help you understand how to apply for a Local Authority nomination or seek rehousing through MyThirteen.
