What is anti-social behaviour?
It covers a wide range of behaviours that cause alarm, harassment or distress. Examples include:
- Loud music or noise from neighbours
- Vandalism
- Youth nuisance
- Throwing objects
- Gang-related nuisance
- Threats of violence
- Hate or mate crime
- Drug dealing or cultivation
- Harassment or verbal abuse
What isn’t anti-social behaviour?
Some everyday activities aren’t classed as anti-social behaviour, such as:
- General household noise
- Babies crying
- Cooking smells
- Children playing (unless it involves abuse, damage or serious behaviour)
What you can do
If the issue isn’t serious, you could try having a friendly word with the person involved. Let them know how it’s affecting you and ask if they can make a change.
If you’re worried, feel unsafe or the problem continues, get in touch with us. You can also report criminal behaviour (like violence, threats, property damage or drug dealing) to the police.
