Apprenticeship FAQs
What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a great way to start your career.
You’ll earn while you learn, gaining paid, hands-on experience alongside classroom study.
This practical approach helps you build real-world skills, achieve recognised qualifications, and get a head start in your chosen profession – all while receiving a salary.
Who can apply?
Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged 16 or over who lives in England and isn’t in full-time education.
They’re perfect if you want practical experience while working towards a qualification.
There’s no upper age limit, and they’re not just for school leavers – apprenticeships are a great option if you want to upskill or change careers.
How does it work?
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will receive on the job training and be fully supported to achieve your qualification.
You will be part of a team of skilled colleagues, who will work closely with you to share their knowledge of Thirteen and the industry.
Alongside your apprenticeship, you will also have access to other training opportunities to support your personal development.
An apprenticeship a Thirteen is a full-time role, which is equivalent to 37 hours a week. Usually, our apprentices spend four days working at Thirteen and one day studying.
How long does an apprenticeship last?
Most apprenticeships take between one and four years, depending on the subject and qualification. You’ll combine on-the-job training with classroom learning throughout.
Some programmes can run for up to five years, depending on the provider and your progress.
What happens after your apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship can open the door to lots of career options. Your next steps will depend on what you want to achieve.
At Thirteen, there are plenty of opportunities to grow. You could move into roles in customer service, housing, repairs and maintenance, care and support, finance, HR, project management – and much more.
