At Thirteen, we work together to provide quality homes, build stronger communities, and support people to live well. That includes protecting the environment we all share.

We know our work has an impact on the planet. That’s why we’ve launched Take Control – our campaign to reduce our carbon footprint and become a greener organisation.

We’re committed to reaching net zero direct business emissions by 2035, ahead of the government’s 2050 target. But this isn’t just about targets – it’s about taking responsibility and making real change.

What take control means

We’re putting environmental sustainability at the heart of everything we do. That means:

  • considering environmental impacts in all business decisions
  • designing and managing homes that are fit for the future
  • reducing, reusing and recycling materials responsibly
  • choosing sustainable transport options
  • protecting biodiversity and enhancing the natural environment
  • adapting to climate change to protect our customers and assets
  • building a sustainable supply chain and strong partnerships
  • supporting future skills and green jobs
  • empowering colleagues, customers and partners to take action

Homes that help people live well

We’re focused on creating sustainable homes that support health, wellbeing and affordability. That includes tackling fuel poverty and making sure our homes are energy efficient and future-ready.

We’re also educating and supporting our colleagues so they can help customers make greener choices.

Our pledge

We’ve pledged to meet all legal environmental responsibilities – and go beyond them. We’re working to prevent pollution, protect the environment and shape how our contractors and partners do the same.

We’re putting strong processes in place and reviewing our environmental goals regularly to make sure we stay on track.
