We are pleased to see our partnership with Middlesbrough College come to life, with our logo now proudly installed at the college’s Construction Centre.

The partnership is focused on creating clear, accessible routes into education, training and employment for people across Teesside. By combining our role as a major regional employer and housing provider with the college’s expertise in technical and adult education, we are working together to help people build skills, confidence and experience.

Our collaboration supports a wide range of activity, including industry placements, T Level opportunities, upskilling and retraining, and targeted support for people who are unemployed or not currently in education or training.

This long-term partnership reflects our shared ambition to strengthen local talent, support social mobility and make sure opportunities are open to everyone, whatever their background.

Elle Taylor, learning and organisational development business partner at Thirteen, said: “Seeing this partnership come to life is incredibly exciting. By bringing together our experience as a large regional employer with the college’s strength in technical education, we’re helping people gain the skills, support and real-world experience they need to succeed.

“This collaboration is about opening doors, raising confidence, and helping people take their next steps into rewarding careers.”

Jessica Shaw, apprentice plumbing and heating technician at Thirteen, said: “Being able to learn on site while studying has been a great experience.

“It’s helped me build my skills and confidence, and I’m learning from experienced colleagues every day. Partnerships like this make a real difference because they give people the chance to get into the industry and build a career.”

Carl Evans, empty homes manager at Thirteen, said: “Partnerships like this are important for the future of the construction and housing sector.

“Working closely with Middlesbrough College helps us support people as they develop the skills we need while gaining real experience in the workplace. It’s great to see local talent coming through and building careers in the industry.”

Matthew Telling, business engagement and partnerships group director at Middlesbrough College, said: “We’re proud to be working with Thirteen to help create clear routes from education into employment.

“By connecting our students with real industry opportunities, we can help them develop the practical skills and experience they need to succeed in their careers.”
