Funds raised through new upcycling pop-up shop set to support even more customers
We’re opening the doors to our brand-new upcycling pop-up shop, which is set to help raise funds to provide furniture packs and essential household items to support even more customers, who need a little help in setting up their home.
12 May 2025
The team will be welcoming members of the public to Thirteen’s recycling centre on Cowpen Lane Industrial Estate, Unit 11 Royce Ave, in Billingham on Friday 16 May.
You can call in, anytime from 10am until 3pm, where you’ll see the shop filled with one-of-a-kind pieces for sale that have been lovingly restored, reimagined and reinvented from donated or discarded materials and items.
The pop-up is all about raising funds to support even more customers who need a helping hand in setting up their home. Everything raised goes straight back into the scheme to buy essential, high-demand items such as mattresses, bedding, household items for its furniture starter packs, as well as materials for future upcycling projects.
Upcycling and re-use co-ordinator Rhys Baker said: “Since setting up the upcycling scheme, we’ve helped hundreds of families who need a little extra help to start their tenancies comfortably from day one. Now this pop-up shop gives us chance to help even more customers who need our support – and reduce waste even further at the same time.
“From rustic side-tables to stylish cupboards, desks and drawers, we’ve transformed what others may throw away, into beautiful functional pieces that are ready for a second life in someone’s home.
“We know that our furniture starter packs really help our customers, so to be able to purchase more items with the funds we raise will go towards making an even bigger difference.”
If you fancy a browse, pop down on the day. You might find something special to take home and you’ll be helping to support a great cause. Spaces are limited, so there may be a short wait during busy times.
Payments can be made by cash or bank transfer.
And if you can’t make it, you can keep an eye on the team’s page on Facebook Marketplace.
Alternatively, if you’ve been having a clear-out at home and you’d like to make a donation please send the team a message at TRC.FurnitureScheme@thirteengroup.co.uk or complete this form on the web page.
The recycling centre is just one of the many ways that we’re working to reduce waste, in line with the organisation’s pledge to protect the environment.
By upcycling furniture, we’re not only helping our customers who are facing severe financial challenges furnish their homes with clean, restored and attractive furniture, but we’re preventing hundreds of tonnes of unwanted furniture going to landfill.
