We don’t cover your personal belongings as part of your tenancy – so it’s important to think about how you’d replace them if they were damaged or stolen. 

Contents insurance helps protect the things that make your house a home – like furniture, carpets, clothes, electricals, and decorations. It also covers improvements you’ve made, such as flooring or a fitted kitchen. 

As a Thirteen customer, you can access low-cost insurance through two trusted providers: My Home Contents Insurance and RSA Insurance.

Why contents insurance matters 

Even if you’re careful, accidents and unexpected events can happen. Contents insurance gives you peace of mind by covering: 

  • theft, fire, water damage and more 
  • items in sheds, garages and outbuildings 
  • external glazing and lock replacement (up to £500 if your keys are lost or stolen) 
  • improvements you’ve made to your home (up to £2,000 or 20% of the insured amount) 
  • flexible payment options – pay weekly, fortnightly, monthly or annually 
  • no excess – you won’t pay the first part of any claim 

You don’t need special locks – just a lockable front door.

What you need to know about RSA’s tenants contents insurance

  • tenants contents insurance financially protects the contents in your home, garage, and shed.
  • cover includes improvements you make to your home, such as new laminate flooring or a fitted kitchen.
  • prices start from as little as 45p per week, £1.47 per month, or a single upfront payment of £15.65 for 12 months of cover.

  • no nasty surprises – no excess on claims and no fees for changing your details or cancelling your policy.
