Glastonbury House in Middlesbrough has become the first of our high-rise buildings to receive a building assessment certificate (BAC) from the Building Safety Regulator.
The certificate marks an important milestone under the Building Safety Act 2022, which introduced a new framework for managing the safety of high-rise residential buildings.
Glastonbury House is the first of our buildings to be assessed by the Regulator and as part of the process, we provided detailed information demonstrating how we manage building safety and work with customers to make sure they feel safe in their homes.
Jane Castor, chief resources officer said: “This is a significant milestone for us and reflects the hard work and commitment of colleagues across the organisation, particularly within our Building Safety team. While Glastonbury House is the first of our buildings to receive a building assessment certificate, it represents the wider work we've undertaken across all of our high-rise homes.
"The Building Safety Regulator's approval demonstrates that we’ve met the duties required under the Building Safety Act 2022 and recognises the strength of the systems and processes we have in place to manage building safety.
"It also highlights the valuable contribution of our involved customers, whose feedback and engagement has helped shape our approach to resident engagement and building safety.”
The work completed as part of this process extends beyond Glastonbury House, with building safety cases, customer engagement strategies and other safety arrangements, which have been developed for all of our high-rise buildings, helping to ensure customers have access to important information and opportunities to get involved in conversations about building safety.

Their expertise, alongside the advice, guidance and support provided by the Building Safety Regulator, helped us achieve this important milestone.
