A service helping customers pay their rent more easily and securely has been recognised at the Open Banking Expo Awards 2026.
Thirteen and Paypoint were presented with the 'Best Open Banking Sector Transformation' award.
The award recognises the introduction of a 'Pay by Bank' service, which gives customers another simple and secure way to pay their rent.
Thirteen customers can now make rent payments through their own banking app, without entering card details. We've also built the PayPoint service into our existing payment app and online portal, My Thirteen, providing another convenient and secure choice for customers.
Between August 2025 and June 2026, our customers were able to make almost 6,000 Pay by Bank rent payments directly through their online banking. The number of digital payments made through the service more than doubled, rising from 6% to 14%.
Rob Thompson, head of income services at Thirteen said: "It's important that we offer our customers a range of services that meet their different needs.
"Pay by Bank has given customers another secure and convenient way to make a payment. Some customers prefer not to share card details online, so it's important that we offer options that provide greater confidence and flexibility.
"Our partnership with PayPoint has been a real success and we're delighted to see the positive difference the service is making for our customers."
