As part of the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) National Sprinkler Week campaign, which runs from Monday 16 – 22 May, the building safety team will be working with colleagues and customers to continue to highlight the benefits of sprinkler systems and why they’ve been installed, as an additional safety measure to keep customers safe.

An £8.2million investment over recent years to install sprinkler systems in eight high-rise buildings demonstrates Thirteen’s ongoing commitment to building and fire safety. This investment is complemented by a valuable and thorough maintenance programme run by the mechanical and electrical teams, with building support and response repair teams fully trained to respond to any activation.

Thirteen’s building safety manager John Waines said: “We’re continuing to work with our customers and colleagues to ensure they understand more about sprinkler systems, how they work and what happens when they activate.

“We’ve done this by developing some clear communication in collaboration with our involved customers and we regularly visit the buildings so we’re on hand to answer any questions.

“We want our customers to feel safe in their homes. The installation of sprinklers adds an extra layer of fire safety and enhances the overall existing fire safety measures already in place, giving customers peace of mind.

“We’re continuing to work closely with partner agencies to provide education on fire safety and demonstrate what customers can do to prevent accidental fires in their home.”
