It was a day of family fun at Sunnyside Community Centre in Coulby Newham as local residents came together for a Christmas fair to raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance.

People of all ages were welcomed along to the free event which featured Christmas crafts, prize games and a safety advice drop-in with Coulby Newham fire brigade.

The event managed to raise £539 in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance, Thirteen's chosen corporate charity for 2021, which proves air ambulance services across the North East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.

The event was organised by Julie Harris, Housing Support Co-ordinator at Thirteen Group, who supports residents living at Sunnyside independent living scheme. She said: “We have a great local community around here and it was lovely to see so many people turn out in support of the festive fair and fundraising event.”

“Many of our residents at Sunnyside have missed the opportunity to get together over lockdown so it was amazing to have people in our local community join us for an afternoon of fun and friendship, all while raising funds for such a worthy cause.”

Sunnyside is an independent living scheme in Middlesbrough featuring flats and bungalows for people aged over 60 years old. The on-site community centre is used by residents for activities, hosting community events and is also available private hire.
