The cold weather affects all of us, so it's important to be prepared.

Winter is our busiest time of year for repairs so now’s the time to carry out checks and make sure that any repairs are requested straight away to get your home winter-ready.

You can report non-urgent repairs quickly and easily online through My Thirteen or call us on 0300 111 1000 for anything urgent.

Here are some top tips for keeping you and your home safe:

  • If you haven’t used your heating for a while, turn it on for 20-30 minutes to make sure it’s working properly and all radiators are heating up as expected.
  • The nights are getting darker. If you have any external lights, check to make sure they’re working.
  • Report any blocked or broken gutters.
  • Make sure all your ventilation is working, such as kitchen and bathroom fans.
  • Know where your stop cock is and how to turn your water off if required.
  • Secure any garden items that may cause issues in high winds e.g. furniture or children’s toys

To help you prepare for the cold weather, we've put together this handy guide on getting ready, keeping warm and staying well this winter

We've also put together some self-help videos on common problems such as preventing damp and condensation and checking for faults with your boiler. These are available to watch on our self-help videos page.

If you’re experiencing any issues with your home, please report these to us right away using your My Thirteen account or call us on 0300 111 1000 for anything urgent.
