Six flats in the Owton Manor area of the town have had their existing windows replaced with new double glazed windows. The bay windows have been insulated and brick work pointed to improve energy efficiency and the appearance of the homes.

Over the next year Thirteen’s investment programme will benefit thousands of residents, as £31m of internal and external improvements are carried out on its homes across the Tees Valley and further afield.

Executive director of property services Russell Thompson said: “We’re committed to maintaining our properties to the highest standards. “These improvements will enhance the appearance of the homes and customers will benefit from noise reduction and their homes should be warmer and less expensive to heat.”

The type of investment carried out and when, depends on a number of things like the age and condition of the property’s fittings, such as kitchens and bathrooms, heating systems and wiring.

The work will be completed by Thirteen’s property services team and specialist contractors where needed. Customers living in one of Thirteen’s homes which is being updated, will receive a letter to tell them about the plans.
