Living at Beechfield Court has given Jean a new lease of life

Today we're supporting the National Housing Federation's Starts at Home campaign which shows how supported housing helps hundreds of thousands of people regain their independence and confidence. All week we've been sharing stories from our customers and staff members on social media.

Jean's story

Jean moved into Beechfield Court three years ago, so she could be closer to her brother John. After spending time caring for John, she was happy when the opportunity came to move to Beechfield Court.

However, when John sadly passed away Jean wasn’t sure whether she would stay, but the good memories and the friends she had made helped her decide it was where she wanted to stay.

Jean always helps to welcome everyone who moves into Beechfield Court, enjoying organising activities, parties, baking for charity events, painting and always having people around. Being surrounded by new friends has given Jean a new lease of life.

The support at Beechfield Court never goes unnoticed. Housing support caretaker Michael Irish loves spending time getting to know the residents, nothing is ever too much trouble and he’s always happy to help.

He said: “Ensuring the scheme is well maintained is really important.

“I’m often the first person the residents see on a morning when I start my round of jobs and update the carers and the team here who provide the extra care service. I always take time to listen to the residents and enjoy getting to know them.”
