We've appointed Equans to carry out the work as part of our Capital Delivery Framework.

The project, which is expected to be complete by the end of the year, will see a wide range of essential communal upgrades. This includes a new communal kitchen, heating and ventilation systems, an upgraded lift, new fire alarm and CCTV. It will also receive fresh decoration, new flooring, improved lighting, windows, doors and much more.

Thirteen’s investment area manager Rubie Dixon-Lee said: “We’re committed to investing in our customers’ homes. This is about investing for the long-term to create a comfortable place where residents can enjoy living and feel proud to call their home.

“Communal areas are at the heart of schemes like Cedar House – they’re spaces where people connect, socialise and support each other, so making them welcoming, safe and modern is really important to us.

“It’s been fantastic to involve our customers as we’ve been preparing for the work and we’re looking forward to seeing the improvements.

“Providing homes that suit our customers’ needs now and in the future is our priority. Accommodation like this at Cedar House, with the added support of a living well coordinator helps our customers to continue to live as independently as possible.”

Regional director Darren Sterling, at Equans said: “We are delighted to be working with Thirteen on this project.

“Sheltered accommodation like this provides a great support to many people, and the communal spaces provide so much opportunity to grow positive connections and personal wellbeing. We are very pleased to be carrying out this work which promises to make a real impact for residents at Cedar House.”

Cedar House has 43 homes near to Stockton town centre, and offers supported living for people aged 60 and above.

The work is part of Thirteen’s £58million investment plans, which is seeing thousands of homes in the North East and Yorkshire benefit from home improvements this year.
