DW Awards Finalists

13 Nov 2020

Head of repairs Steph Lawlor has been shortlisted in the inspirational employee category and apprentice electrician Rhys Elliott has been shortlisted in the apprentice of the year category of the Direct Works Repairs and Maintenance Awards.

Steph started her career with Thirteen, 16 years ago, aged 18, gaining experience in repairs, voids and investment in various roles. Following a number of successful promotions, Steph was appointed head of repairs and now manages a team of around 180 colleagues.

Always putting customers first, Steph has continued to further her education, professional qualifications and experience, always striving to deliver a great customer experience. Steph has introduced many new initiatives to further improve Thirteen’s repairs service and support the customer journey.

Becoming an apprentice electrician at Thirteen has been a fantastic start to Rhys’s career. Rhys was one of a thousand applicants who applied in 2017 to join Thirteen’s apprenticeship programme and now he’s well on the way to completing a four-year electrical apprenticeship, working alongside some senior and successful staff members, who also started their career as an apprentice.

Rhys has gained a wealth of knowledge and skills, working with different teams in the organisation, from carrying out electric safety tests, repairs and maintenance, working on empty properties and with the mechanical and electrical team, setting him on the path to a successful career.

This is fantastic news for both Steph and Rhys and this recognition is testament to their hard work and determination to progress in their careers. Being a finalist is something to be very proud of and we’d like to wish both colleagues the very best of luck at the awards.

Winners will be announced at the virtual awards ceremony on 7 December at 4.30pm.
