Investors in people is the international standard for people management, defining what it takes to lead, support and manage people effectively. They enable organisations like us to benchmark against the best in the business.

Heather Ashton, executive director of resources, said: "We're thrilled to have achieved Investors in people silver accreditation. "We recognise that our people are our biggest asset and as part of the process we've demonstrated how we manage and develop our colleagues, and we’re really pleased with the positive feedback we've received.

"We want to thank all team members, whose hard work and dedication have been central to this fantastic achievement.

"Silver award level is only awarded to the top 5% of organisations that are assessed, and although we're so proud to have received this, we don't want to stop there as there's real potential for us to achieve investors in people gold accreditation in the future."

The review was carried out by an independent assessor, who interviewed staff to get their opinions on Thirteen as a place to work, from the opportunities we provide to the benefits we offer. The assessor recognised that empowerment and involvement emerged as a real strength at Thirteen and that staff across the organisation thought they are trusted to make decisions.
