The team has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Initiative to Combat Fuel Poverty’ in the ASCP Safety & Compliance Awards, which recognises successful initiatives to support tenants and reduce fuel poverty.

Thirteen’s gas M&E service manager Steven Brown said: “The service we provide has improved significantly, since introducing a new repairs IT system in 2017, which is allowing us to see if our tenants are being affected by the rise in fuel prices and where we can support them, as early as possible and not only at the time of their annual gas safety inspection.

“We can run a weekly report to establish the extent of the problem, and whether they are able to afford to put gas on the meter. Our tenancy support team pick up this report each week to see if support can be given through early intervention, to ensure tenants are not left without gas or electric.

“We hope that by identifying fuel poverty at an early stage we can help to signpost customers to the right support.

“The importance of gas compliance is embedded within our culture at Thirteen and we have maintained 100% gas compliance now for over two years.

“Last year, the team won ‘Gas Repairs & Maintenance Scheme of the Year’ so it’s fantastic that our work has been acknowledged yet again and I’m proud of the team for being shortlisted for such a prestigious award.”

The awards, celebrate and reward the achievements, dedication, contribution and overall commitment of compliance professionals to gas and electrical safety within the social housing sector.
