The affordable new homes which will be two, three and four bedroomed and a mix of houses and bungalows, will be in addition to the new development at Bishopton Road that we completed earlier this year.

Following consultation with residents in Grove Hill last year, we received feedback and suggestions which have helped shape the final designs for the planning application.

Subject to planning approval, we aim to start work on the new homes in Spring next year.

Ian Wardle, Thirteen’s chief executive, said:

“This potential development in the heart of Grove Hill will help address the demand for affordable housing in Middlesbrough and create a legacy for years to come.

“Subject to planning approval we’re really looking forward to working with Middlesbrough Council and Homes England on delivering these great new homes.”

Mayor of Middlesbrough, Andy Preston added:

“This development is naturally subject to a planning process but I’m excited by what looks like a positive step in the right direction for Grove Hill.

“Building on brownfield land Such as this is something that hasn’t happened enough in the past.

“This development would be another step in our town’s urban renaissance, bringing new homes for families and retired people in an area that’s been left to deteriorate for decades.”
