Tracy Horkan (42) has purchased her new home under the Help to Buy: Shared Ownership scheme, which allows people to buy a share of a property and pay rent on the remaining share.
Tracy, who works at Skerne Park Academy providing pastoral and therapeutic support to pupils, had struggled to secure a mortgage after being made redundant last year and becoming self-employed. She moved from London to be closer to family in Marton.
Thirteen has partnered with Taylor Wimpey to develop properties at Rose Cottage Farm, providing three-bedroom affordable rent and shared ownership homes.
Tracy said: "When I was made redundant and became self-employed it was impossible to get a mortgage to buy a property outright, but I feel so fortunate that I have got this lovely home, in a beautiful location thanks to shared ownership.
"It's a perfect solution for me and allows me to own a part of my home, with the option to buy further shares when I can afford it. I'm so grateful for the support of Thirteen throughout the process and looking forward to settling very happily in Stainton."
Ian Wardle, chief executive at Thirteen, said: "We are really pleased to welcome Tracy to Rose Cottage Farm. It is a lovely development in a very picturesque village location.
"We are proud to work in partnership with Taylor Wimpey to bring these high-quality properties to the market, and I am sure that Tracy will be very happy in her new home."
Thirteen has a wide range of affordable properties available across the region. You can find more details at the Find a Home webpage or contact the Thirteen customer service team on tel: 0300 111 1000.
