What to expect
Sheltered housing is designed to help you live independently, with the reassurance of on-site support.
Our Support Officers are there to help with:
- housing management
- repairs and maintenance
- allocating apartments
- general queries
- health and safety in the building
Support also includes:
- a warden call service linked to staff on-site
- help with any bespoke care arrangements you may need
Is sheltered housing right for you?

Herbert Pollard House
Herbert Pollard House is a development at Stalybridge Avenue in East Hull. The development is aimed at people aged 55+ who might need support to live independently in their own home.
The sheltered housing scheme offers:

- a supportive community
- alarm monitoring service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- CCTV and secure door entry system
Located within walking distance of local amenities and transport links into Hull City Centre, Herbert Pollard House features 36 apartments, specifically designed for older people, and offers an opportunity for independent living in a safe, comfortable and secure environment.
The scheme is set out over three floors, with lift and stairs leading to the first and second floors. All the flats are level access and have a separate lounge, kitchen and bathroom. They have emergency pull cords connected to 24/7 alarm service and a controlled entry system.
Communal facilities include a spacious lounge and kitchen, library, private garden, mobility scooter store, hairdressing salon and guest room.
