Our extra care schemes offer the chance for people over 55 to live independently for longer with a helping hand if it’s needed.

The open day gave people the chance to find out more information about extra care, understand the support that is available and ask any questions.

The care and support team have had great feedback from the event, with lots of people saying they have a better understanding of the support on offer and commenting on how welcoming and vibrant the facilities are.

The care and support team were pleased to welcome Andy McDonald, MP for Middlesbrough, along to the open day too.

The team met with Andy to talk about the support we offer to older and vulnerable people and gave him a tour of the facilities. He also enjoyed chatting with residents.

He said: "It was an absolute delight to visit Pennyman House during their open day - there was a real buzz around the building. It was helpful and interesting to talk to staff and I had some great chats with residents over a cuppa."

Tanya Scott, care and support manager said: “Thank you to our customers and partners for supporting the open day. We were delighted to meet people who wanted to understand more about our extra care offer and discuss the support we could provide to them.

“It was great to welcome MP Andy McDonald to the open day too. This is the second time Andy has been to visit this scheme and he continues to be impressed with our work.

“We will be planning more open days in the future, in different areas, so watch this space.”
